Today, I’m on vacation, sort of.. just going from one place to the next, and taking some time to relax. Yet, I still read the news, and check my e-mail and phone messages. Even on vacation, nothing seems to have changed. Our favorite Hollywood personality, Lindsey Lohan, now known as LiLo, is on the way back to jail for violating her parole. They swear she will spend time, this time. NOT. Again, if you or I or our kids did some of this, we’d be under the jail and we’d be getting piped sunlight. So much for “equal treatment under the law”.
Marriage.. “till death do us part”, or is it just for 72 days, and then call it quits? Kim Kardashian thinks the 72 days is about right, and “there’s no right or wrong thing to do, you just have to listen to your intuition and follow your heart.” Wonder what would happen if everyone thought you could just blow off relationships, cancel contracts or commitments, by just following your intuition? Hmmmm, probably wouldn’t go over well in most courts normal people would have to live with.
If you’re 65 or maybe just in your 60′s, you’ll love this one. 12 people have been charged with defrauding Medicare for 95 million dollars. Only 4 of them are doctors. They made arrangements with the “patients” to give them facials, massages, and charge for “un-necessary medical treatments”. Some even received dance lessons. In other words, they helped the criminals defraud a system that is intended to care for them and decrease their medical costs, as they grow older.. a system they have paid into for years. But that’s not all. Since 2007, 1140 people have been charged for falsely billing Medicare for 2.9 BILLION dollars. And that probably doesn’t count the ones that got away.
Now, what happened to the “God Bless America” people? You know, those who have sweated, labored, bled, died, and proclaimed the God of Scripture… the salvation of Christ? Where are our voices.. where is our outrage? Forget “Occupy Wall Street”. Forget “Occupy Oakland”. What about what Jesus said in Luke 19:13? Jesus is telling a parable, and speaks of several things. One of which is giving several persons a large amount of money and saying “Occupy till I come”. What does “occupy” mean? Think WWII Europe. Look in the dictionary. And then, think about whether or not, we as Christians, are “occupying“, until Jesus returns, or are we doing something else… or nothing? Whaddyathink…. Brother Bill
