Funny how you see things against the background of the culture, and then see it through the eyes of Christ. Here’s one … now, religiously affiliated nonprofit organizations, MUST provide their feminine employees with birth control coverage. Having worked as a chaplain, in a Catholic Hospital, which not only did not supply this, but would not allow the Women’s Pavilion to provide abortion, under any condition; I understand that hospitals, colleges, and others, are going to have a hard time with this. It does not yet apply to churches, mosques, synagogues, temples, and a couple of elementary schools, etc. It must be complied with by August 1, 2013. Not too bad, huh? This law includes the abortifactant “morning after pill”. OOPS! Only a matter of time .. only a matter of time.
On another front, education is still going downhill. Muslim-funded text book companies are supplying texts to schools here in America, with erroneous and fictional content concerning history, sociology, and some other subjects. American students are weak in history, and many of the social sciences. For example, one text relates how Muslims discovered America, not Columbus, not Vikings, not Europeans. Jerusalem is also presented as a Muslim and Palestinian city, and Jesus is described as “Palestinian”. Israel does not exist, it is a figment. There have been found over 500 factual errors in 28 texts examined by the non-profit Institute for Jewish and Community Research. Maybe we can get some texts for our students, which include jihad and dhimmi declarations? I hope not!
To close I offer this little nugget. Senate Bill #6239 and House Bill #2516, are almost certain to pass in the state of Washington. The vote for passage needs 25 votes and a woman legislator has publicly proclaimed that she will cast the deciding vote. This legislation will make Washington the 7th state to adopt “gay marriage”, and extend all rights of married couples to those gays so “married”. Believe it or not, the largest corporate support for these bills comes from Microsoft and Nike, both of whom are headquartered in Washington State. Read Romans 1:17 and following.
All the above is an example of the lostness of America, and the unwillingness of the American public to speak out on important issues. That includes those who call themselves Christians, unfortunately. We only seem to speak, if something touches us directly. We don’t worry about our “neighbors” too much, or the person who lives in D.C., NYC, or LA. We need spiritual awakening, renewal and revival; yet so few Christians will support these activities any longer. Not just the meetings, but the hard labor of prayer, discipleship, change, ministry, proclamation and sanctification. Thank you Lord, for being in control.. for being in charge … even for allowing “ijits” to make wrong choices. We know that “every knee shall bow and every tongue confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the honor of God the Father.” Could it be sooner rather than later, Father, so that our land and culture could be healed? Whaddayathink?
