Cooler weather, and hopefully warmer hearts, gets everyone in the mood for the “holidays”. As this week is the week of Thanksgiving, may we be reminded about giving of thanks. Of course, as Christians, we want to give thanks for all the things we know God has done in us, thru us, with us, and for us. Mostly, we tend to concentrate on the “for us” part. But really…. come on! God has done so much more in us, thru us and with us than we might think or believe. We always tend to think of the physical… God has given me__________ or _____________ or, “Oh boy, He gave me _______________. BUT He didn’t do anything about _________ or ______________, and I’m sorta disappointed.

God has good things in mind for us. Do we? What are God’s thoughts for us.. for us to have a blessing and a future? What will the Father gift us with, that we should be thankful for this season? Maybe we ought to “dig a little deeper in the well“, and see what the Lord has truly gifted us with. Before you sit down to dinner on Thursday, take a few moments to consider this. Then encourage everyone at the table to share, before the blessing, one SIGNIFICANT thing, they know the Lord has blessed them with in this last year. Begin a new tradition of doing this every year, it’ll help get you off on the right foot for the season, which in reality is so frustrating at times.

I’m thankful, of course, for my wife and daughter, and for the people of CFBC, and for the opportunities God has given us this year. So many things! However, one thing has hit me, to be thankful for.. right now.. right here, at this time. It sort of gives me a measure of pleasure to recognize it, and to know I had some small part in it. (No, I won’t specifically tell you what it is.) I believe the Father has done a great change, and I have certainly sat up, and taken notice. Be thankful, be encouraging, be blessed… Whaddayathink?
